Trinity Support and Care Services are committed to ensuring individuals appointed to posts within the company are appointed on the basis of merit. We undertake to treat all applicants for positions fairly and not to discriminate unfairly or unlawfully against the subject of a Disclosure on the basis of a conviction or other information revealed.
In line with The Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) (Northern Ireland) Order 1979 and The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 – 2016) there are certain jobs and professions where applicants must always declare their convictions, even if they are considered spent. These are known as ‘excepted’ employments or professions and are detailed in the 1979 Order and 2012 Act.
Excepted employments and professions can include working or coming into contact with children or vulnerable people.
The company will consider all convictions and relevant information detailed on the Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (EDC) and Garda Vetting Certificate (GVC) in line with our Recruitment of People with Criminal Records policy.
Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar individuals from working with the company. This will depend on the nature of the position, together with the circumstances and background of offences or other information contained on a disclosure certificate.
If you are concerned about how your data will be stored, accessed or shared, be reassured that it will be kept confidential at all times and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. It will not be accessible to anyone outside of the designated authorised personnel for the purposes of which it was gathered.
On occasion it may be necessary to disclose information to a third party in connection with legal proceedings for example employment tribunal, however, this will only be disclosed with prior consent.
